Oh Sunny Day!

So yesterday was the first day since November that I got out to run outside in Nome. Sun shinning bright, no wind, low teens. Nice day. Easy run, getting used to being on uneven ground again. It was also nice to reflect upon the upcoming season. I started working through a race schedule to get going this summer. In college if it wasn't formulated for me (my race schedule) I ended up just training without a goal. The Teller Run will be a goal, whether I make it or not is not important but the journey is. This past January I did not get my Brooks sponsorship renewed, first time since 2004 that I have not been sponsored and the first time ever that I will be paying for my own running shoes. The journey has only begun...
Workout:
3.5 miles nice and easy.

Day 1, Monday Feb. 15th, 2010

Day 1,
An idea...run from Teller, AK to Nome, AK in under 18 hours. I have no reason to really do this other than it sounds like a good time and reason to focus on something through the Alaska winter. Its been a while since I have run any distance longer than 10 miles, 3 years in fact. I haven't run a marathon since I have been in Alaska. Last year would have been the first as I was training to run the Mayor's Marathon in Anchorage, AK but had to put that on hold as two weeks before the race I destroyed my knee. I tore my MCL and meniscus in my left knee. Injury aside now, a new goal...bigger than before. So it starts, with a 4 mile ski and a weight training session. Day one, 130 to go.
Day 1 Routine:
Cardio: 4 Mile Ski in the morning

Regular Crunches - 20
